LANDCARE

The sustainable Agriculture (SAF) support landholders in the region to adopt climate-smart, sustainable agricultural practices.

Funded through the Australian Government’s National Landcare Program, the SAF is a trusted partner providing critical advice and extension services to improve farmer’s:

  • knowledge and uptake of climate smart practices
  • understanding of carbon and biodiversity markets to inform critical investment decisions for future sustainability

SUSTAINABLE AGRICULTURE FACILITATORS

The SAFs work with a range of partners, including:

  • farmers
  • agricultural industry bodies
  • research organisations
  • Landcare networks and groups with an agriculture focus
  • State and local Government.

This work continues the (previous) Regional Agricultural Landcare Facilitator (RALF) work that improved group access to funding opportunities, building key partnerships, providing training and information opportunities to facilitate the adoption of sustainable land management practices that:

  • Maintain, for current and future generations, the region’s capacity to sustainably produce food and fibre;
  • Enhance the capacity of rural and related landscapes to deliver ecosystem services such as clean air and water, healthy soils and biodiversity conservation;
  • Build a vibrant and resilient Landcare and production group community; and
  • Establish a Landcare ethos within the wider community
